Thursday, June 26th, 2003By popular demand, Lucha VaVOOM is proud to present its third spectacular in under a year. The first and only of its kind, Lucha VaVOOM combines authentic Masked Mexican Wrestling with classic Burlesque dancers. Set in the deco splendor of The Mayan Theatre, fast paced, action packed matches with live color commentary from Blaine Capatch (TV¹s Beat the Geeks and Mad TV) and Patton Oswalt (King of Queens, HBO & Comedy Central specials) define the show.
Lucha VaVOOM draws its inspiration from the Lucha Cinema of the 50's and 60's; where masked wrestling heroes battled the bad guys, with an obligatory stop at the go-go. It all comes together to form the surreal live experience that Rolling Stone Magazine recently described: "As spectacle, it's enough to make even the most jaded Hollywood insider jump up and yell 'Smackdown!' like he really means it."
Lucha VaVOOM appeals to all kinds; from Hollywood hipsters to Latino Lucha fans, from vintage car clubs to fashionistas. Lucha VaVOOM audiences defy demographic description.
This June 26th, Hijo del Santo is back to battle his arch-nemesis, The Blue Panther. Also appearing in the Lucha Estrella match are Huracan Ramirez, Jr., Felino and rudos El Gringo Loco and Misterioso.
Making their U.S. debut are four legendary minis: Ultimo Dragoncito, La Parkita, El Torito and Espectrito. This show will also feature Lucha Elvis vs. Lucifer, Los Chivos, some crazy chickens, and Lucha VaVOOM favorites Rosa Salvaje and Mariachi Loco.
Also making their debut in the "Battle of the Glamazons" Burlesque stars Kitten DeVille and Kitten DeVine square off in a glamour-grudge match. No approximating here; these girls have been training hard for what will be the ultimate catfight.
What about the "VaVOOM?" The beloved French maids are back, glamorous card girls will cheer on their wrestlers, and of course, the cream of the burlesque crop (Frida Kulo, Summer Peaches, Ursulina & Ming Dynatease) will perform an eye-popping south-of-the-border striptease spectacular.
The entire show will be set to the cinematic soundscapes provided by DJ Prickle, and get there early to catch the wrestlers as they arrive in a full vintage car parade.
