Not a whole lot to talk about this week, as I've been spending more time working on SoCal Hall of Fame matters. So just a few quick noted this time around and a more in depth column next week.

I made it out to the WWE Raw brand house show in San Diego on the 9th and Raw sure needs a lot of work. WWE has hands down the best pool of talent in the world, but also wastes that talent like nobody's business. Aside from the Rey Misterio Jr. versus Eddy Guerrero match there wasn't much of anything good on the show. Raw in Los Angeles and Smackdown in Bakersfield both were much better shows.

The biggest news on both shows was the performance of a few SoCal regulars. Apparently the WWE was impressed with a few performances, and even had the Heat announcers put Hardkore Kidd over pretty strong on their telecast.

Skulu, Keiji Sakoda, Outlaw Marshall Knox, Frankie Kazarian, Outlaw Mike Knox, and Hardkore Kidd all had dark matches or television matches on Heat and Velocity. Also Big Chris Mordetzsky, Joelle Ward (Maxi Minx), Erica Porter, Derek Neikirk, and Kyra (Melina Perez) all participated in workouts with the WWE.

EWF is even reporting that Kyra has been offered a spot in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE's main developmental territory after Wrestlemania, though no word if she'll be getting an actual developmental deal.

Kyra, who is also a model and actress appearing in Nike ads and a few television shows, has been said by some in EWF to have the most natural talent of any female wrestler to ever come out of the promotion.

A lot of people also predict Frankie Kazarian will be offered a deal soon.

WPW should be returning soon to the Anaheim Marketplace. WPW is temporarily unable to run when they ran into problems with their insurance.

Martin Marin is scheduled to leave for Toryumon around March 5th.

--

Speaking of WPW, Lil' Cholo will be going to Philadelphia, PA for CZW's annual junior heavyweight tournament Best of the Best on April 12th.

--

"Iceman" John Black has announced on his website that he will be closing down his site, and will from now on just be going by the name "Iceman". Iceman's site was always one of my favorites to go to as he was always very open and honest in all of his commentaries and I'm sad to see it go.

XPW has announced two matches so far for their return to SoCal on February 28th. Justin Credible will be challenging Shane Douglas for the XPW heavyweight title, and Justice Pain will be challenging Supreme for the King of the Deathmatch title. Also, XPW and the Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero) have also been in talks about the Pitbulls possibly wrestling in XPW.

FMLL will be running it's next show at the Salon el Rey in Compton with Misterioso versus Elvio Reyes for the FMLL championship on March 16th.

--

GSCW and APW's SoCal versus NorCal angle will continue this weekend when SoCal invades APW on February 22nd at their show at the APW Garage in Hayward. GSCW will return at the end of March.

--

Lucha VaVoom on February 13th had what is easily the largest non-WWE crowd of the year in SoCal with between 1,200 and 1,400 people, and by all reports it was a very entertaining show. The next LuchaVaVoom will most likely happen in the summer, possibly late June or early July.

--

According to Josh Waldrop of "Parts Unknown" radio, UPW will be running it's April show at the Grove Theatre in Anaheim, CA.

--

It's amazing that their could possibly be zero shows running in SoCal this upcoming weekend. I can't recall a single weekend, aside from Christmas weekend, where no shows have run in SoCal over the last two years. Things will be back to normal the next weekend with four or five shows going on.
