UWF in Anaheim
I know there is a lot of youngsters that post here, but does anyone remember when the UWF used to run shows at the Anaheim Convention Center? Ah those were the days.

Are you talking about the promotion that the late Herb Abrams ran in the early 1990's?

I'm not sure who owned the UWF (Universal Wrestling Federation) back then. They had alot of great wrestlers Ted Dibiase, Dr. Death, Big Bubba Rogers etc. They put on a couple good shows at the convention center.

UWF
Would that have been "Cowboy" Bill Watts? I remember reading about them running the Olympic Auditorium, w/ no success, when they tried going national.

I think Bill Watts' UWF ran once or twice at the Olympic, I KNOW they ran once at the old San Beranardino Arena (because I went and took photos) and then when they "merged" with NWA many of the shows at the Great Western Forum were actaually combo NWA / UWF cards.

I Remember the Nov. 6,1987 Anaheim Show
I remember going to the November 6, 1987 Anaheim show. I was 10 years old, and it was the first time I had ever been to the Anaheim Convention Center, even though I had been to 3 shows at the Great Western Forum. It was also the first time I had ever seen wreslters up close. I remember the first match after intermission was Barry Windham vs. Larry Zbyszko for the Western States Title. When I was coming back from the restroom, I saw the tag team The Canadian Kodiacs buying food. I was in shock and totally marked out. These guys had a Road Warrior type gimmick and that was the last time I had ever seen them. The main event was supposed to be The Road Warriors (my all time favorites) vs. The Sheepherders. There was a long delay before the main event, and it was changed to The Road Warriors vs. Luke Williams & Johnny Ace, who is the real life brother of Animal. I remember my dad buying me a Road Warrior poster, and there being a really bad traffic jam outside. Those were the days. Man, do I miss Jim Crockett Promotions, Mid South Sports/UWF, and all the great promotions of the past!

Also..
I do remember the UWF running the Bren Center in Irvine, but the Olympic Auditorium I'm not sure of . I know Jim Crockett Promotions ran it once in 1985, as did the AWA, but I don't think anybody else did until quite some time after that.

I also went to that Anaheim show from '87, and actually have a ton of cool photos from it. If I can figure out how, I will post some of them on here maybe. As far as UWF t the Olympic, I was recently watching some old tapes of mine from that era and saw a plug for an "upcoming" UWF card at the Olympic in L.A., so the possibility is always there that it may have never happened.
