WWF doesn't really hire anyone unless they show potential and have some sort of upside in the ring. The "as long as they look good and can talk" thing doesn't really fit. Those guys certainly get their chances in the developemental program but look at the current roster and there aren't any young guys that don't at least show potential. Smaller guys that work hard in the developementals like Shannon Moore and Jamie Noble have been brought up to TV as well.

WWF is still obviously a big man's company and not geared towards in-ring work only, but it is wrong to say any big guy with speaking skills gets pushed.

: : Sandman (ECW star, WCW JTTS)
: : Raven (ECW Star, WWF/WCW JTTS)
:
: Neither of these guys were JTTS in WCW. In fact, they were
: pretty much the "big steals" from ECW. "Hak" was made
: hardcore champion several times in WCW, and Raven had the
: flock.

"Are you sure? I don't remember Hak being in anything memorable other than a hardcore match with Bam Bam Bigelow on PPV. He really did not last long in WCW.
Raven had a big push but never got over. "

Hak wasn't necessarily memorable, but he was a big part of the hardcore division. But I was incorrect, he was never a WCW hardcore champion even once. Raven and the flock were more over than Hak was.

: : Public Enemy (ECW stasr, WWF failures)
:
: WCW stars though. But again, that was 3 years ago.

Justin Crast wrote:

They held the tag titles for a whopping week in late 1996!
Perhaps stars is the wrong word, but failures is too strong in the opposite direction. The sad thing is that Ted Petty/Rocco Rock used to be a great worker, but as age catches up to ya, they resort to the garbage.

: New Jack (ECW star, ZERO big league experience)
:
: His past and "reputation" are probably other reasons why he's
: not in the WWE, and never will be. Not to mention he's terrible.

That's very true too, but New Jack is very... layered. I'm being vague in order to avoid what could be construed as libelous comments.

Justin, Thats ridiculous for you to say that most CZW fans are just vampires looking for blood. Let me just remind you of the attendance at BOTB2 compared to No Exscuses. I think that alone proves that most CZW fans are there to see wrestling.

And a little bit of info for you, prior to getting signed in the WWE, Tajiri was main eventing at CZW wrestling for the title, and Tommy Dreamer even had a very short run prior to getting signed.

Have you not watched the three female winners of Tough Enough? Please describe their upside and potential for me.

They brought in Tajiri for 2-3 shows if I'm not mistaken...and they were bringing in names to challenge their World title to try to get the strap some credibiity, they brought in Dreamer, Whipwreck, Lynn, any Ex-ECW guy they could find and book. I would hardly call that bringing in real wrestling talent, it's just basically what XPW has been doing for years...book a name that's over (or used to be over) and have him challenge and/or win a strap. Nothing long-term.

Yeah CZW has the Best of The Best, but I'd like to see more of those types of matches incorporated into their regular shows. I dig some of their hardcore, but that TOD/mutilation of Mondo was just wrong. Guy isn't even 30 and he's all scarred for life.

cookie cutter

No one individual can fill the blank that the WWE is looking for. WWE goes with whatever can make them a buck. I remember watching Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy in a steel cage match at Wrestlemania 2. Did I ever think that the WWF would have a Cruiserweight Division? No. I remember seeing classic pure mat wrestling between Bret Hart and Curt Hennig, did I ever think the WWF would have a hardcore division? No. I remember watching some of the most gimmicky matches ever in WWF, would I have ever thought that an Olympic Gold Medalist or a NCAA Champion would be wrestling for the WWE? No. I think what Crast any pretty much what everybody has been saying without really saying it is there is no definative of a WWE Talent. There is no realm the WWE is not willing to exploit as long as it means the WWE can earn a quick buck. When the "vampires" control the market share, I'm sure the blood baths will be unleashed in a WWE rign near you. But until then, let's just enjoy what we like. Say why we like it. And appreciate other oppions.

Well, they were the "winners" of a TV show that has been a fairly good ratings-grabber for MTV. That being said, they never seem to make the right picks in regards to winners.

IE: picking Maven over Nowinski, picking Jackie Gayda at all.

As for upside and potential of the three females...
1. Nidia. Character is very over, probably moreso than Jamie Noble. Has gotten a lot of experience in OVW as well. Can work better than any of the other valets (Stacy, Torrie, Terri, etc.)
2. Linda Miles. Athletic and tall, though not terribly pretty. Mostly with OVW now, and if she sticks with it, will probably be a good worker.
3. Jackie Gayda- All looks and nothing else (and some question the looks aspect). The biggest "HUH?" of the show.

of all the tough enough guys the only one I see EVEr making anything out of himself is Maven. He's like a mini-Rock. Why in the blue hell did the two women win in TE2, I have no idea. Both men had potential especially Jake or what ever his name was. Chris Lewonski is beyond pathetic, his character couldn't sell oranges by the freeway and his wrestling skill seems to be nothing more then punches and kicks. Velocity star if lucky.

I attended BOTB2. Most of the fans were not there to see "wrestling". The only thing heard above silence were embarassing catcalls during the only "wrestling" match of the show between Super Dragon and B-Boy. It wasn't until they started stiffing each other and doing head drops that the crowd awoke.

I don't know what this is supposed to mean.
