On a hot evening in early September of last year, a single man overcame great odds, advancing to the top of a field of sixteen to win Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's Battle of Los Angeles tournament. This year, the story will be much the same, but the odds will be greater, and the field will be larger. Twenty-four men from Southern California and around the world will compete in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, with the opening rounds taking place on Friday, September 1, 2006 and Saturday, September 2, 2006, and the final rounds taking place on Sunday, September 3, 2006. Three nights of professional wrestling that are already shaping up to be the biggest event in PWG history. On June 3 at "Fear of a Black Planet" Scorpio Sky announced that he would be the first entrant in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, attempting to bring the focus of the tournament solely on himself. However, Scorpio Sky could not have anticipated the first match to be officially announced for the tournament, which will undoubtedly steal his spotlight. On Friday, September 1, 2006 in the first round of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, PWG veteran and Cleveland, OH native M-Dogg 20 will take on CIMA, the ace of the Dragon Gate promotion in Japan, making his Southern California debut!
