Valentine’s Day will be celebrated early this year at the Mayan Theatre as Lucha VaVOOM returns for its 3rd annual St. Valentine’s Massacre.
Superstar Lucha Libre beefcake Blue Demon, Jr. returns to battle the evil Dr. Wagner along with Nicho and hunky Hector Garza. Ultra-mini and Lucha VaVOOM favorite Tsuki takes on full sized wrestlers! The Poubelle Twins will face their toughest challenge yet, and opening this Valentine’s spectacular will be our first BATTLE ROYALE! Blaine Capatch (Beat the Geeks) and Tom Kenny (voice of Spongebob Squarepants) will provide comedic commentary over the masked Mexican mayhem.
Bringing the love for Valentine’s Day are the beautiful Buxoticas, featuring two Miss Exoticworld champions; Kitten DeVille and Erochica Bamboo. Other crowd teasers and pleasers include Ursulina, Summer Peaches, Ming Dynatease and Danyella (from GWAR). We are also proud to present pogo-stick sensation Rocky Roulette, as well as the best new burlesque beauties we could get our hands on!
For those unfamiliar with Lucha VaVOOM, it is a completely unique experience, combining four matches of authentic Lucha Libre with the cream of the burlesque crop dancing between matches. Special guest comedians provide off-colour comedy and commentary; Patton Oswalt (King of Queens), Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live), Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants, Mr. Show) and of course, our beloved host, Blaine Capatch (Beat the Geeks, Mad TV).
Lucha VaVOOM made its debut in August, 2002 and has gone on to perform seven sold out shows at the Mayan. It has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel, Canada’s Much Music, BBC’s The Grill as well as Fox 11 News and Telemundo’s “The Roof.” TIME MAGAZINE declares “Lucha VaVOOM has a big future,” while Rolling Stone featured the show in their “Cool” issue, proclaiming “it’s enough to make even the most jaded Hollywood insider jump up and yell “Smackdown!” THE FACE reports “Lucha VAVOOM is the most exciting, bonkers show I’ve seen in ages...”
