Press Releases: German Powerhouse Gamlin Signs to Fight Bob Sapp
Posted by Steven Bryant on Wednesday, September 03, 2003 @ 6:12 PM Pacific
UPW

K1 matches the two monster forces, September 21 in Japan.

Stefan Gamlin is a force of nature.  Most, upon meeting the gentle giant for the first time, are immediately struck by  his outgoing, gregarious nature.  But, although a natural joker and performer, the German Powerhouse means business.  Gamlin grew up as part of a family of 5, and from early in life, adopted a philosophy of  "you get what you go for, nothing more and nothing less."  From playing bodyguard to Michael Clark Duncan to knocking out NFL players on national television, Stefan’s conviction to excel has led to a storied and varied career.

Career Highlights:

  • World Wrestling Federation (WWF); wrestler.
  • FX's "Team Toughman":  Gamlin was the individual winner of FX's highest-rated Toughman telecast, as Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) defeated the National Football League (NFL) at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
  • European Football League.  Started as Defensive Tackle for the Frankfurt Galaxy.
  • Battledome.  Starred in the popular syndicated show as "Mad Dogg Steele."

Gamlin also stars, as himself, on ESPN's Fall release of its "Wild Rules" reality television show.

In late August, Gamlin was approached through his management team of Rick Bassman/UPW and Eddy Millis/The Shark Tank, to take on superstar "Beast of the East," Bob Sapp, on September 21 in Japan.

Although not given a lot of time to train, Stefan has dove headfirst into two training sessions a day with Eddy Millis and his crack team of trainers at the famed Shark Tank.  "I've never been one to not take advantage of an opportunity," says Gamlin.  "I'm sure I was booked late in the game as a "tune-up"for Sapp's fight with Mike Tyson,, but I'm telling you right now, don't be surprised if I knock this sucka out!"
