Press Releases: UPW adds B-Boy to Samoa Joe versus Frankie Kazarian plus more changes
Posted by Steven Bryant on Friday, July 11, 2003 @ 3:41 AM Pacific
UPW Well, Title Wave at The Grove of Anaheim is nearly here, and there have been some important changes to the card. Commissioner Pete Doyle has mandated that all UPW Titles be defended at the event. The only Title not being defended was Frankie Kazarian's UPW Lightweight Title. Obviously, Frankie's opponent, Samoa Joe is not a member of the Lightweight division. As a result, Doyle has decided to take the longest reigning Lightweight Champion in UPW history and add him to the match making what looks to be a very physical and dynamic triple threat match! Should B-Boy pin Frankie Kazarian or force him to submit to end the match, he will be crowned the new UPW Lightweight Champion. As you may remember, B-Boy was never directly defeated for the Title as Kazarian defeated Spanky to claim the gold as part of a two-fall double title triple threat match at Shock Wave.

This also means that B-Boy will no longer compete along with Funky Billy Kim for the tag team titles. Scott Lost will now join FBK to face The Ballard Brothers and the UPW Tag Team Champions Hardkore Inc. for the titles.

Mikey Henderson was forced to back out of his match with Lil Nate. Nate has issued an open challenge and is looking for action tomorrow. Who will step up? Be at The Grove and find out.

We look forward to seeing you at The Grove. Remember, in addition to all this, a new UPW Heavyweight Champion will be crowned, and the war between The Outlaws and The Native Nation will end inside a steel cage!
