The very nature of the professional wrestling industry is one of constant change and evolution, and even the stolid force known as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, so unused to change, is forced to make concessions sometime. What does this vague reference to corporate fluidity mean? Well, we are sad to report that due to scheduling conflicts, we have been forced to postpone the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles until later in the year (tentatively scheduled for October-November). |

Los Angeles, CA - When Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood pauses to reflect on the past five years, what sticks out the most in his mind is how a man such as himself, possibly an immigrant of indeterminate origin, has risen to the top of a Fortune 500 Million Company. Prior to his tenure with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Winwood worked at a Baskin-Robbins ice cream stand, dishing out delectable treats to the hungry public. Rising from a lowly "scoop jockey" to a managerial position in mere months, Dino Winwood was soon hired by then-Commissioner SoCal Val to serve as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla General Counsel, despite having no legal experience. Luckily for Dino, and SoCal Val for that matter, the company faced very little litigation in that time period, which allowed Dino to keep a perfect score marked in his legal win/loss ledger. SoCal Val, never one to sweat the details, took Winwood's record of 0 losses to be an exceptional feat and quickly promoted Dino to the position of Executive Vice President in mid-2005. While Winwood’s career had seen a meteoric rise since 2003, it would pale in comparison to what would follow the 2005 Battle of Los Angeles. |

With the year 2008 nearly half over, that means that the late summer classic, the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, is little more than two months away. Each year, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla scours the globe in order to bring our fans the best and brightest of the world of professional wrestling together in the same ring for three days, and this year is no exception. The 2008 Battle of Los Angeles will take place during the last weekend of August, 2008, with the opening rounds of the tournament taking place on Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 at the American Legion Hall in Reseda, California, and the final night of tournament, featuring the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final rounds of the tournament will take place on Sunday, August 31 at the Burbank Armory in Burbank, CA. While the three previous iterations of the Battle of Los Angeles have given fans a varied talent pool leading to incredible and unique matchups, we feel that the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles will top all others.
With that being said, we proudly present the first member of the field of competition in the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles. |

San Simeon, CA - After Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament, Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood was feeling a little bit off. Slurred speech, swerving while walking or driving, loss of appetite, dehydration, it was clear by the end of the day last Monday that something was wrong. Which is why Dino waited until Tuesday to get things checked out. Fortunate that he acted when he did, Dino was diagnosed with suffering from acute Heat Exhaustion, and had he waited just five more minutes before being submerged in ice to rapidly cool his core temperature, he would have lost total functionality of his brain. It was the first case of it's kind, where the symptoms persisted over a series of days without catastrophic side effects, and so serious that there will be an article about the newly named "Dino Winwood Syndrome" in the August/September issue of the New England Journal of Medicine and Carpentry (the premiere bimonthly publication that competes simultaneously with both the New England Journal of Medicine and This Old House). |

Thursday, May 15 Update
By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer
As if Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and our affiliated wrestlers have not endured enough bad luck recently, we were informed earlier today that while walking into the Fox Hills Mall to redeem her Orange Julius gift certificate she received for Mother's Day, former PWG employee Judy Sorensen was struck and killed by a piece of orbital debris returning to earth. The news hit the offices of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla pretty hard, though not as hard as say, an instrument panel door sheered off by a space station docking with a shuttle returning to earth at high velocity, but hard enough that Commissioner Dino Winwood was about to send everyone home for the day. That is, until the Commissioner reached for his cell phone to read a text message, then began shouting incoherently about the Japanese, and their lack of ankle support. At first, everyone thought Dino had gone mad with grief over the death of Judy, formerly from accounting, however, the news was much more dire: While wrestling in his home country of Japan, scheduled Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament participant Kota Ibushi broke his ankle, and will be unable to compete in the tournament. |

El Granada, CA - It has been said on occasion before, and it holds just as true today as it did then: It wouldn't be a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) event without changes. Unfortunately, those changes directly effect the Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament (DDT4), taking place on May 17 & 18, 2008 at the Burbank Armory in Burbank, California. The bad news: One of the teams that many fans were picking as the favorites to win DDT4 are out. The good news: If you checked the Weekend Independent Wrestling Injury Report in the New York Times and got worried, there's not as many changes as you might expect. The good-er news: The lineups for the weekend, with both non-tournament and DDT4 matches, have been announced. |

On May 17 and 18, 2008, eight tag teams will meet at the Burbank Armory for the second ever Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament (DDT4), and much like the first tournament, whichever team wins the final match will be the undisputed Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champions. Also like last year's tournament, the field of competitors is diverse, being comprised teams from all over the world, and they've all set their sights on the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship. |

It's a Gift...and a Curse from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla on Saturday, April 5! By Silverback, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Staff Writer
Santee, CA - At Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) 1.21 Gigawatts this past Friday night, Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur attempted to give Chris Hero and Candice LeRae a gift; A chance at revenge against Human Tornado and LuFisto, who had joined forces earlier in the evening to attack Candice. Unfortunately, this gift quickly became a curse, when the Inter-gender Street Fight that Excalibur had booked degenerated into a 3-on-1 assault of Candice LeRae by Tornado, LuFisto, and Claudio Castagnoli, as Chris Hero was bound to the ropes and helpless to stop the beating. This would lead to Excalibur vehemently apologizing to Hero for putting Candice in harm's way, especially when the Commissioner knew that Hero and Candice were outnumbered. He would go on to relate the story of how the attack at 1.21 Gigawatts was a lot like when he was advised to watch Monk on DVD. While he found the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder of detective Adrian Monk to be amusing, by the end of the first season, even the OCD-related antics could not overcome the formulaic, sub-Matlock level of crime solving the show featured on a regular basis. So while everyone else seems to enjoy the show, Excalibur finds it to be just too much of the same. You can see how this story really put things in perspective for Hero and Candice, and lead to them petitioning that Dino Winwood be the only one with match making power in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. |

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Presents 1.21 Gigawatts on 3.21.2008!
By Silverback, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Staff Writer
Half Moon Bay, CA - In the history of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com), there has never been a show as inappropriately named as Scared Straight. The event, whose name is derived from the late 1970's program to keep youngsters on the proper path in life, failed to bring any of those life lessons to Reseda last Friday night, and saw flagrant bending, and sometimes breaking, of the rules. All of this occurred within plain sight of Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood and Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur, who despite their lawgiving positions, were so outnumbered by rule-breakers that they were helpless to do anything but watch. This forced a return to the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla offices early Saturday morning, where the Commissioners and their staff reviewed the tapes of Scared Straight, and came to a variety of conclusions. The first conclusion: You guys are a bunch of jerks. |
